Language is culture. And funny sometimes.
Notes from a language lover, suburban would-be cultural theorist, international relations Masters student, and strident (but often failed) anti-mummy-blogger.
The Blondie and Brownie pages are snippets of conversation from my boys, aged 10 and 7, which I thought were pretty funny, cute and/or insightful - you know, culture at work and all that. This is the failed bit (see above).
Bumper Edition satisfies a quasi obsession with the cultural messages of vehicle licence plates, bumper stickers and window decals. Fortunately, where I live seems to be a hotspot for these items. Or perhaps unfortunately.
The views here are my own, just mine, no-one else's, unless otherwise acknowledged.

A death in the family – part two: grief and its relative effects

A death in the family – part one: two funerals and a cupboard

HH is being rested

No use crying … ?
Well, I was made to eat humble pie (flavour of the week) yesterday when I read the outcome of the ACCC report into the ‘milk wars’ between supermarkets earlier this year. Regular readers may remember I got a bit annoyed … Continue reading
